Negeri Sembilan's N is tidy work.

The old NS is shortened to N in 1948 with the rest of the rationalisation. It becomes a mid-volume series: important corridor, consistent growth, no statistical shocks. N shifts into three-letter plates in 1987, squarely between the early adopters and the late ones.

Nothing in its history is messy, which is exactly the point. N is a straightforward implementation of the rules; its charm is that it behaves exactly as a state prefix is supposed to.
