Pahang's C exists because sharing stopped being acceptable.

For a long time, both Penang and Pahang used the letter P in their plate systems. It worked when volumes were low; it became a problem as vehicles multiplied. The 1948 reform resolves this by moving Pahang to C, forcing a clean separation and re-plating the old overlaps.

From there, C grows at its own pace, only reaching the three-letter stage in 1986, well after the biggest issuers. The result is a series with a relatively measured history and a clear identity: no more collisions, no more ambiguity. A good C-series plate quietly points back to that decisive split.
