Series Overview
1MCY is one of the smallest special series ever released: just 370 numbers. The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) announced it in January 2014 to promote Malaysia Commercialisation Year 2014, a campaign to bring local research and development products to market. Minister Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin said the 370 plates would be issued after Cabinet approval and sold through JPJ.
MOSTI said the plates would use reflective material and GPS technology, though it did not explain how the GPS element would work. The ministry described the series as a one-year promotion with no plans to continue it after 2014.
