Series Overview
6D is the registration code for Sarawak's Sixth Division, Sarikei, created in the 1970s when Sarikei was split from the Third Division. Unlike the older divisions, which moved to single letters, Sarikei kept its D code until 1991.
From 1988 Sarawak added a Q suffix to its plates to tell them apart from other states' codes, so late 6D registrations read like 6DA 124 Q. In 1991 the Q moved to the front and Sarikei became QR.
