7D is the old Sarawak Seventh Division plate format, associated with Kapit.
Its shape is part of the attraction. A digit followed by D can look like a modern specialty plate, but 7D comes from Sarawak's older administrative map. Kapit became the Seventh Division after being split from the former Third Division, and the registration code followed that divisional identity.
That places 7D outside the modern QP Kapit family and outside the standard Q-front Sarawak system used from 1991 onward. Public plate-history references describe 6D and 7D as late survivors of the divisional format, continuing into the transition period before Sarawak moved fully to the newer Q structure.
