Series Overview

DC plates identify vehicles of the Diplomatic Corps. They follow the format ##-##-DC: the first number is the country code of the mission, the second is the rank of the user (01 is the head of mission's official car), and DC stands for Diplomatic Corps. For example, 39 is Singapore, so 39-08-DC is a Singapore High Commission car.

The characters are white on a red background, and some are white on black. JPJ's plate specification lists embassies, the United Nations and the International Natural Rubber Association among the users of red plates.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the numbers on a DC plate mean?

The first number is the mission's country code and the second is the rank of the user; 01 is the head of mission's official car.

Why are diplomatic plates red?

JPJ's specification uses white characters on red for embassy, United Nations and similar vehicles so they stand out from private cars.
