Series Overview

EB is the early Malaysia-era Sabah registration code associated with Beaufort.

After Sabah joined Malaysia in 1963, the older North Borneo district letters were carried forward with an E in front. In that transitional system, B continued the Beaufort and interior-area association, while E marked the new East Malaysia arrangement.

That is why EB looks different from both the pre-1963 British-style district marks and the later S-front Sabah format. It belongs to the short bridge between those systems: old district identity retained, federation-era prefix added, and the modern Sabah pattern still ahead.

The appeal is historical rather than promotional. EB was not created as a vanity release, and there was no public launch story behind it. Its value comes from Beaufort geography, early Malaysia plate structure and the survival of a registration style that was later replaced.

Dating individual EB plates from the prefix alone is imprecise. The format points to the transitional system, while the exact year, vehicle history and registered form belong to the underlying JPJ file.
