Series Overview
EU is the early Malaysia-era Sabah registration code associated with Keningau.
In the older North Borneo arrangement, U identified the interior/Keningau area. After 1963, Sabah's transitional format placed E before the older district letter, producing EU.
The letters can look surprisingly modern on a vehicle because EU is familiar today in other contexts. In Sabah plate history, however, EU is not European-themed and not a private vanity prefix. It is old district geography carried into the first years of Malaysia.
