Series Overview
F is the series that replaced Putrajaya's word plates. From 1 June 2016, new vehicles registered in the Federal Territory of Putrajaya received an F prefix, for Federal, instead of the PUTRAJAYA lettering used since the territory was created. The change came alongside Kuala Lumpur's move from W to V.
The first run, F 1 to F 9999, was sold by tender in June 2016. JPJ received 11,683 bid forms, then the second-highest response for any series after WWW in 2012. Results were released on 1 July 2016, and F 1 went to the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim, for RM836,660.
Unlike state prefixes, which move to the next letter only when a block runs out, Putrajaya's F sequences have been released roughly once a year: FA in 2017, FB in 2018, FC in 2019, FD in 2021, FE in 2022, FF in 2023, FFF in 2024, FG in 2025 and FH in 2026. Each run is sold through bidding, and JPJ offers them as special registration numbers (NPI) rather than ordinary running numbers.
