Series Overview

GET is the registration series created for Teksi Madani, the national taxi programme launched by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on 3 July 2026. The letters stand for Gabungan E-hailing dan Teksi, a combined e-hailing and taxi service, and the series is reserved for vehicles in the programme.

The plate is new as well as the prefix. GET registrations use JPJePlate hardware, the embossed aluminium plate introduced for electric vehicles in 2024, with red characters on a white background instead of black, a grey side tag in place of the EV version's green one, and no hot-stamped authentic watermark on the front plate. Like other JPJePlates it carries the MAL identifier and flag, a QR code, a laser-engraved serial and an RFID tag, and is fixed with one-way security screws.

The launch vehicle is a red Proton S70 with no livery and no roof topper. LED panels on the windscreen and rear glass show either Teksi or E-hailing depending on the trip, and taxi permits under the scheme are issued directly to drivers. The programme was extended to Sarawak in September 2026 with the same white GET plates.

Taxis outside the programme continue to carry the older H-plus-state registrations (HA to HW).

Frequently Asked Questions

What does GET stand for?

Gabungan E-hailing dan Teksi, meaning combined e-hailing and taxi. The vehicles can work as either, and LED signs on the glass show which mode they are in.

How is a GET plate different from an EV plate?

Both use JPJePlate hardware, but GET plates have red characters instead of black, a grey side tag instead of green, and no hot-stamped watermark on the front plate.

Do all taxis now use GET plates?

No. GET is reserved for Teksi Madani vehicles. Other taxis keep their H-plus-state registrations such as HB or HW.
