Series Overview
GTR was issued by Pertubuhan Suara Wanita Malaysia, a women's organisation, as a fundraiser. Despite the name, it has no connection with Nissan; the series simply borrowed letters that performance-car owners would recognise from the Skyline GT-R and GT-R, and the marketing played on numbers such as GTR 32, 33, 34 and 35 for the model generations.
Only 1,000 numbers were offered, GTR 1 to GTR 1000. The first tender, handled exclusively by The Plates Enterprise, ran from 15 to 31 March 2018 with results on 6 April. A second tender opened on 11 May 2018 through Plat GTR Management, with prices from RM1,000. Like other organisation-issued series, unregistered GTR numbers lapsed when JPJ ended such sales on 31 December 2019.
