Issued in the late 1990s for Modenas “Jaguh” motorcycles (a 175cc cruiser bike). “Jaguh” means “champion” in Malay. Modenas, riding on the success of their Kriss plate series, offered JAGUH 1-9999 to new buyers and dealers to promote this model. The Jaguh was launched in 1998, and these vanity plates gave it a patriotic flair. Many early Jaguh bikes were registered with matching plates. For example, a collector might have JAGUH 175 to reflect the engine capacity. As with KRISS, these were motorcycle-only registrations. Production of the Jaguh was limited, and by the mid-2000s the model ended. Consequently, relatively few JAGUH plates remain active (some bikes scrapped or plate numbers returned). Any surviving JAGUH plate seen today is a small tribute to Malaysia’s foray into locally-made cruiser bikes. For motorcycle enthusiasts, JAGUH plates pair perfectly with the bike they were meant for, celebrating a “champion” of a home-grown machine.
