Series Overview

MALAYSIA is the series Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced on 4 June 2018 for the National Day season under the theme Sayangi Malaysiaku. It was the new government's answer to organisation-run series: every ringgit went to the government, and apart from MALAYSIA 2020, set aside for Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, no number was reserved for VIPs. The plate follows a JPJ design guideline, with the word written Malaysia in the LongHaul typeface and the numbers in Arial Black.

Bidding was first set for 2 to 16 July at JPJ state offices, but because the online system was not ready, JPJ ran it by paper forms and post from 1 to 15 August 2018. Results on 23 August showed RM13.1 million from 3,353 successful bids. MALAYSIA 1 went to Johor-based Aldi International Sdn Bhd for RM1,111,111, beating the RM989,000 record for V1; the same company won MALAYSIA 2 (RM422,000) and MALAYSIA 4 (RM162,000). MALAYSIA 99 drew RM501,500, MALAYSIA 8055 attracted the most bids (49) and sold for RM81,888, and Loke's own RM1,509 bid for MALAYSIA 509 lost to a RM20,000 bid.

Loke said the previous government had lost more than RM100 million by letting organisations sell series for a RM1 million fee each. The 6,645 numbers left unsold were later cleared on JPJ's MySIKAP portal from 8 April 2025.
