Series Overview
P_P is the special series JPJ released for its 80th anniversary in April 2026, launched in George Town, Penang. As with A_A a year earlier, the number sits between two letters, from P1P to P9999P. JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the letter reflects the department's role in transport and enforcement and is also synonymous with Penang.
Bidding ran on JPJeBid from 20 April until 10pm on 24 April 2026, with the usual minimum bids of RM20,000 for golden numbers down to RM300 for running numbers. The series collected RM21.68 million (RM19.19 million in bids and RM2.48 million in service fees) from 19,370 bidders, with 5,973 numbers won. P1P led at RM1.1 million, followed by P9P at RM1,000,777, P8P at RM613,000, P6P at RM600,777 and P2P at RM512,000. The most contested number was P1177P with 26 bidders, followed by P313P and P22P with 24 each.
JPJ said no numbers were reserved or blocked, and the remaining 4,026 numbers were offered to the public after bidding closed. The anniversary week also included a JPJ carnival from 24 to 26 April selling about 50,000 ordinary registration numbers at half price.
