Series Overview
SL has meant two different places. Before 1948 it was Selangor's registration code in the Federated Malay States; in that year's rationalisation, Selangor's two-letter code was replaced by the single letter B.
Decades later, SL reappeared in Sabah's S-front system as the code for Labuan, in the form SLx #### S. Labuan became a federal territory in 1984, and in the mid-1990s it returned to its own L series in the Peninsular format.
