Special plates for the 10th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit hosted in Putrajaya in 2003. The prefix “X OIC” uses the Roman numeral X for 10, indicating the 10th summit, followed by OIC. Much like the NAM Summit plates, XOIC 1-999 were produced for use on official vehicles carrying heads of state, diplomats, and dignitaries during the conference. For instance, XOIC 1 might have been on the car of the conference Chair (then Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi), and other low numbers distributed among kings, presidents, and prime ministers of Islamic nations attending. These plates were temporary and solely for summit logistics, not for personal ownership. After the summit concluded, they were collected and presumably stored or destroyed by JPJ. A handful could have been presented as gifts to VIPs. They were never available to the public and thus have no presence on civilian vehicles. If one were to see an XOIC plate today, it would likely be on archived government vehicles or photos of the 2003 event. Together with the NAM and ASEAN summit plates, the XOIC series exemplified Malaysia’s hospitality and organizing flair – even down to specialized license plates for a seamless, secure motorcade experience.
